What is Learning Work?
A guided internship program where students gain hands-on experience in their chosen field during the month of January. Students work 30-40 hours per week in independently secured internships under the remote supervision of a Wofford instructor. This program is a great way to build your professional network and enhance your resume.
Key Guidelines:
- Supervisor cannot be a direct family member.
- Students must arrange their own internships (Wofford offers assistance through the Career Center if needed).
- Apply through the Learning Work portal ASAP.
Application Deadlines:
- Early Decision Deadline: October 4
- Final Deadline: December 1
- Students can still work with Career Services up until the final deadline to find internships.
- If searching past the Early Deadline, students must register for an on-campus interim as a backup.
Finding an Internship:
Already secured an internship? Submit your application early and get processed into a Learning Work cohort.
Create your own internship opportunities by using the Career Center, Friends and Family, LinkedIn, and Wofford Alumni Networks like MyMentor.
Need assistance? Career Services provides guidance on how to network to find an opportunity; please make an appointment with us through Handshake.
Application Approval:
Applications are accepted if requirements are met and space remains in Learning Work classes. No guarantee that all proposals will be accepted due to space limitations.
After Acceptance:
A Learning Work faculty member will provide details on requirements and expectations. All Learning Work students must attend an on-campus interim class in early December.
