Full job description
Industrial Chemist perform chemical processing and testing. They may work in labs or manufacturing plants, conducting experiments, testing compounds, and analyzing substances and data. Industrial Chemist also write reports and troubleshoot equipment. Will perform Quality Control, simple math calculations to produce/adjust ink formulas. Follow formulas to produce security inks and coatings. Supervise 6-8 people in security ink production in manufacturing facility. Will oversee production of formulas created or adjusted. Bachelor’s degree or minimum 5 years like professional experience.
Job Functions:
- Perform viscosity and pH checks and record data.
- Hook up and disconnect pumps to ink vats, along with understand how the system functions.
- Perform flushing and cleaning of pumps when removed from ink pumps to ensure minimal breakdown of pumps.
- Calibrate pH meter and maintain pH solution for proper operation of meter.
- Move ink/solvent drums to appropriate staging areas for return to ink room.
- Ensure appropriate labeling of waste drums and place full waste drums in designated areas for pumping out.
- Remove empty drums and buckets to appropriate areas daily.
- Monitor viscosity, pH, ink number, batch number, etc.
- Perform functions in an efficient manner.
- Follow established company safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
- Help other crew members
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Operate, maintain and clean manufacturing machinery and equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair any mechanical failures
- Complete work orders and requests in a timely fashion
- Perform routine preventative maintenance
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures
Position Requirements/Qualifications:
- A mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Able to get along with other people.
- Physically agile.
- The ability to push/pull 500 plus pounds using pallet jack
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
Language Skills:
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to comprehend specification manuals.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people with varying levels of education, expertise, and backgrounds.
- Requires effective decision making, problem solving and teamwork skills.
- Gain strong credibility with team members, and department supervisors, even under negative circumstances.
- Previous experience in production, manufacturing or other related fields or similar
- Familiarity with schematics and technical drawings
- Familiarity with manufacturing machinery and equipment
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Education Chemistry or Biology degree.
