Job Description
Data-driven, intelligent systems can bring immense computing power to bear, revealing insights across datasets too massive for humans to synthesize. We help our customers to build and enable those systems by creating trusted data engineering architectures, machine learning algorithms, and analytic techniques that put the power of big data at our users’ fingertips while leverage deep expertise in human decision-making and collaboration to best pair humans and machines.
As an Intern working in data science, operations research, math and statistics, you will work with a team to apply your knowledge and gain experience with one or more of the following:
- Data analysis and visualization
- Augmented decision making and trusted analytics
- Applied mathematics, statistics, and optimization
- Simulation and computational analytics
- Systems modeling and analysis
- Operational effectiveness and efficiency
- Knowledge discovery
- Next-gen data environments
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an accredited degree seeking program in Data Science or a related degree program and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship
- Knowledge of how retrieve data from databases and other systems and tools using queries, exporting capabilities, and other effective methods
- Understanding of or experience with statistical software and data visualization tools such as R, SPSS, SAS, and UNIX shell scripting
- Sustained excellence in academic performance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience having applied data science learning to an internship or research/lab position
- Experience retrieving data from databases and other systems and tools using queries, exporting capabilities, and other effective methods
- Experience with statistical software and data visualization tools such as R, SPSS, SAS, and UNIX shell scripting
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: Python (scikit-learn, NumPy, pandas, Jupyter), Scala/Java, C/C++/C#, Objective C; database design & development (SQL, Neo4J, MongoDB); AWS
- Demonstrated interest in serving the public
Clearance: In addition to passing MITRE’s employment background check, you may be submitted for a U.S. Government Security clearance. This is determined by the Department of Defense’s adjudicative guidelines for receiving a clearance, to include U.S. citizenship. Other jobs may require vetting for various levels of agency public trust, fitness, suitability, controlled access, and special programs access determination consistent with the work program to which you are assigned.
