About The Fellowship
Gateway Teaching Fellowship is a transformative teaching program that places passionate individuals in select schools with strong leadership, supportive cultures, and a commitment to mentorship and professional development. As a GatewayTeaching Fellow, you’ll inspire students in under-resourced communities while building invaluable, transferable skills—like communication, problem-solving, and leadership—that will serve you throughout your career. Fellows have the opportunity to enroll in a certification program and earn a Master’s degree. Fellows are salaried employees that can also receive performance-based bonuses along the way (see our competitive bonus structure below). You’ll Get School Based Annual Salary + GTF Bonuses:
- $1,000 – Signing bonus and/or relocation stipend
- $1,500 – Upon successful completion of Summer Training
- $5,000 – Upon successful completion of the first semester of Year 2
- $5,000-$7,500 – Upon completion of October of Year 3, bonus is based on performance and evaluation feedback
- Fellows are eligible for school-based bonuses

A Launchpad for Leadership and Growth
Gateway Teaching Fellowship offers two pathways: Lead Teachers, who take charge of classrooms, and Associate Teachers, who support academic programming, substitute as needed, and step into vacancies to ensure student success. Both roles are grounded in a commitment to teaching excellence and professional development in challenging, high-impact environments.
Fellows will:
- Engage in intensive summer training and ongoing professional development, with opportunities to earn certification, pursue a Master’s degree, and grow as a leader.
- Foster strong, positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to contribute to a collaborative and inclusive school culture.
- Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that meet diverse student needs.
- Use data-driven insights to assess progress and improve outcomes daily.
- Provide targeted academic or behavioral support as needed
- Contribute to school-wide programs and events.
- Engage in learning and growth alongside a supportive cohort of peers.

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree conferred by May 2025 (subject to program requirements) with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Previous experience working with youth or in educational settings is a plus but not required.
Fellows are required to commit to and complete a full year in the program. For those pursuing teaching certification, a commitment of three years is necessary to fulfill certification requirements. Fellows can earn up to $15,000 in cumulative retention bonuses over three years, with bonuses awarded annually based on performance and impact in the classroom. This structured path rewards dedication and excellence, while providing financial incentives for sustained commitment to educational leadership and growth.
