The Savannah Country Day is seeking a recent college graduate for an English Faculty Fellowship opportunity in the Middle School for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Savannah Country Day School Faculty Fellowship program provides recent graduates an opportunity to launch their career in education by gaining one year of valuable experience working in an Independent School. Fellows are paired with an experienced master teacher, who will serve as their mentor for the duration of the fellowship program. Typical duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Shadowing the mentor teacher, while learning classroom management, instructional techniques, and methodologies.
- Providing ELA instruction to students.
- Evaluating students’ academic progress and performance.
- Assisting with student activities, which may include extra-curricular activities.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Positive attitude and commitment to collaborating with others.
- A desire to promote a lifelong love of learning for students.
- Strong communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English from an accredited college or university.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
Physical Demands:
Work is typically performed in a classroom environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or carries objects of a light-medium weight, up to 25 pounds. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
