SC Innovates
The South Carolina Department of Commerce and the South Carolina Research Authority have partnered with colleges and universities across the state to launch SC Innovates, a student pitch competition that encourages ingenuity and entrepreneurship. The inaugural SC Innovates pitch challenge will took place in tandem with Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in November 2020. GEW is a weeklong campaign that celebrates the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life and drive economic growth.
The competition serves as an online opportunity to highlight South Carolina’s student innovators and connects them with other business-minded students with the goal of generating new, innovative ventures in the state.
Finalists compete for mentoring opportunities with seasoned entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts, along with cash prizes.

Students who are active participants of Launch will have to apply, be interviewed, and will be assigned an entrepreneurial stage: CONCEPT — STRATEGY — GROWTH

Southern Conference Entrepreneurship Challenge
The Southern Conference Entrepreneurial Challenge is a judged competition that is hosted annually with a college partner. This year, the SoCon Entrepreneurship Challenge is hosted by Mercer University’s Stetson-Hatcher School of Business and held on Mercer University Macon campus.
This entrepreneurship challenge pitch competition is designed to showcase student(s) with an idea for an innovative and original for-profit business or non-profit organization. Each school in the SoCon will have one team representing them in each track – the selection process for the teams to be determined by each individual school.
The SoCon Entrepreneurship Challenge will feature a semi-final pitch round with all twenty teams presenting their ideas on day one of the competition. A separate panel of judges for each track will identify a select number of teams to move on to the final pitch competition round for day two.
